BIOTHERM MINI-DOCUMENTARIES FOR WORLD OCEAN DAY
Since 2012, Biotherm’s Water Lovers program has worked to raise awareness on ocean preservation. Today, Water Lovers encompasses all aspects of Biotherm’s value chain, from their formulas, materials and manufacturing, to their ocean preservation initiatives.
These 2 mini-docs featured Biotherm staff and scientists explaining how their work helps to keep formulas respectful to marine life.
Myself and a small team from AKQA filmed in Seattle and Paris over the course of 5 days. Kit & crew was kept small and light to fit within the tight schedules of the featured scientists, and other lab work which was happening around us.

DR ALI CHASE – OPTICAL OCEANOGRAPHER
The inspiring Dr. Ali Chase is an optical oceanographer. She studies the microscopic life in the ocean by combining knowledge from both ship-board measurements and satellite data. By studying the samples of water collected by the Biotherm Sailing team, she can better understand the micro particles like phytoplankton.
